Baptisms at St Leonards
In baptism, you as parents are: thanking God for his gift of life, deciding
to start your child on the journey of faith and asking for the Church's support.
For your child, baptism: marks the start of a journey of faith, which
involves turning away from the darkness of self-centredness, turning towards
Christ and becoming a member of the local and worldwide Christian family.
Baptism is a 'sacrament': a visible sign of God's love. In baptism, we are
thanking God for his gift of life and publicly acknowledging his love. We are
acknowledging that we all need to turn away from the darkness of evil and
to make a new start with God.
Please come along to the Church Office, held every Friday evening between
7.00 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. in the Church where you can talk to someone about your
childs baptism. You will get the chance to discuss what it means to both you and
your child and how St Leonards Parish Church can help make the day a special one
for everyone involved.
In the meantime, please feel free to have a look at the Church of England
website by clicking on the logo below which has details and information about
baptism and what it means to all involved.
